Tyrese Haliburton Injury Update: Pacers Remain Cautiously

Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton continues to recover from a lingering hamstring injury that has impacted his performance and availability since the NBA playoffs. While the team has not issued any immediate concerns about his long-term health, the Pacers medical staff and front office are approaching the situation with caution ahead of the upcoming season.

Haliburton, who played a pivotal role in the Pacers’ resurgence last season, initially suffered a hamstring strain during the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Although he attempted to play through the discomfort, it was clear in later games that his mobility and explosiveness were compromised. The team eventually decided to limit his minutes to avoid aggravating the injury.

According to team sources, Haliburton has been undergoing a closely monitored rehabilitation program over the offseason. While he has made noticeable progress, including resuming light on-court activity and individual shooting drills, he has not yet been cleared for full-contact practice. Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle stated in a recent interview that the organization is prioritizing Haliburton’s long-term health over rushing him back into competitive play.

“There’s no need to push him in July or August,” Carlisle said. “Our goal is to have Tyrese fully healthy by training camp and, most importantly, to have him 100% for the regular season.”

Haliburton’s presence is vital to Indiana’s offensive system. As one of the league’s top playmakers, he averaged 20.1 points and 10.9 assists per game last season, earning All-Star honors and establishing himself as one of the cornerstones of the franchise.

The Pacers have also adjusted their summer league and preseason planning accordingly, giving more responsibilities to young guards such as Andrew Nembhard and Ben Sheppard in Haliburton’s absence.

Barring setbacks, Haliburton is expected to be ready for training camp in late September. Still, the Pacers will likely manage his workload carefully to prevent recurrence. Fans and team officials alike are hopeful that the dynamic point guard will return at full strength and continue leading Indiana’s playoff push in the 2025 season.
